Our Special Finds: One of a Kind Jewelry...Especially for You
I have been wanting to shine a light on “Our Special Finds” for a little while now, particularly since I’ve heard from so many of you that this is one of YOUR favorite sections here at Beach Treasures Online.
It’s for good reason too – because after all, who doesn’t love a piece that’s one of a kind!? While this can be said for so many pieces here at Beach Treasures in Duck, I do enjoy having an opportunity to highlight the unusual pieces that come our way. Whether it’s a distinctive gem or an extraordinary piece by one of admired jewelry designers, Our Special Finds is a collection of pendants, earrings, and bracelets that you won’t find anywhere else.
What’s interesting now -- as I sit down to write this BLOG after Hurricane Dorian has come and gone – is reflecting upon just how many gemstones are beloved because of their properties related to healing, strength, and courage. And given what’s happened to so many OBX’ers to our south on Hatteras Island and Ocracoke, and throughout the Bahamas, I’m thinking that healing energy (regardless of where it comes from!) is something that many need right now.
Take for instance blue lace agate – an opulent stone seen in several of the gemstone bracelets by designer Chris Bales – this beautiful stone is thought to impart tranquility. In addition, chalcedony is believed to absorb negative energy, and with that, is thought to bring one’s emotions and spirit into harmony.
Then there’s white buffalo turquoise, with its understated boldness -- it comes as no surprise that this gem is believed to deliver determination. And pieces including yellow jasper, are known for delivering support during times of stress…plus the happiness of a sunny yellow seldom disappoints!
Interestingly, while altogether different stones, both sodalite and chrysocolla admired for their beautiful blue colorations disperse negativity and usher in calm and wisdom. And finally, when a kaleidoscope of gemstones combine in Native American inlay, spiny oyster shell can be counted on to not only add bright color but also encouraging cooperation.
So browse away, my friends…and be sure you’re following us on Instagram too (because there have been times when a piece doesn’t even make it to our site!) You can find us @beachtreasuresnc
