Mystical Properties & Stories Untold: The Designs of Charles Albert
Since founding his company in 1990, Charles Albert has routinely scoured the globe in search of only the highest quality minerals, fossils, and gemstones used to create exquisite pieces of wearable art. Every piece of jewelry designed and created by Charles Albert is meticulously hand-made from signature designs created by he and his wife, Beth. Since the time that he began his studio, Charles has earned a reputation for jewelry that is bold and edgy…innovative…distinctive…a maybe (just maybe) awash in stories and mystery.
Little did he realize that his love for gems and stones began during his youthful explorations in the vacant lot next door to his Grandmother’s home. Footloose and fancy free, Charles would find delight and a bit of magic in what others would pass by. It takes a rare gem (of a person) to find beauty and purpose in that which is left behind…and Charles did just that. Rocks weren’t rocks to Charles — and today, a stone or a piece of sea washed glass is likely to be transformed into a magnificent bracelet, pendant, or earrings. Lucky us!
Perhaps a bit ahead of the curve, Charles has been “green” by transforming and repurposing his finds into designer jewelry. Whether a whimsical sea-inspired bracelet or bold gemstone pendant, Charles hand selects the individual treasures that make up each one. His unusual materials are sourced from around the world, designed in Florida and handcrafted in Mexico by some of the most talented metal smiths in the world.
At Beach Treasures in Duck, the most sought after pieces are his recycled beach glass necklaces and earrings. Because each piece of glass varies in color, shape, and size — each jewelry creation is one-of-a-kind. Some people like to find beach glass and collect it in a jar…we’re glad Charles transforms it into such beautiful creations.
Interestingly, the fun of turning one’s sea glass into jewelry is something we enjoy doing here at Beach Treasures. Come summer, we hold weekly workshops with local artisan Laura Howard.
In Charles Albert jewelry you’ll find gemstones such as Biwa pearls — believed to posses the power of purity and integrity — and Aztec Lapis stones with their earthy, stories to tell. Slices of seashells that let the wearer imagine a beach upon which they washed ashore…or bits of blue topaz said to enhance sweetness. It's the blending of textures and colors…of mystical properties and stories untold that make the designs of Charles Albert so appealing.
We are proud to showcase Charles Albert here at Beach Treasures Online as well as in our shop, Beach Treasures in Duck located exclusively on the Town of Duck’s Boardwalk on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
