Small Town, Big Spirit: 4th of July in Duck, North Carolina
With a touch of Norman Rockwell, small town America is alive and well on the 4th of July here in Duck. The morning starts with our hometown parade…one where kids ride bikes, neighbors walk dogs, golf carts are bedazzled in red, white, & blue, and the firefighters on those big shiny rigs are our friends and neighbors.
It’s an Outer Banks highlight...and a moment to celebrate America! Starting with a morning parade followed by a festive gathering on the Town Green with live music and lots of camaraderie, complete with a slice of watermelon from the local fruit market. Boy does it taste great when it’s hotter than July!
A small town in its own right, Duck swells in the summer thanks to our beautiful location on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. A sea to sound community -- where visitors arrive to our shop by car or foot (and on occasion, by boat) -- with a Village boasting locally owned shops like ours, all connected by a meandering boardwalk on the shores of the Currituck Sound.
If you’ve not been to Beach Treasures in Duck you’ll find an extensive line of gemstone jewelry along with treasures perfect for preserving fun summer memories or as keepsakes you’ll cherish the rest of your life. Fortunately for us, we are surrounded (and showcase) jewelry designers, artisans, and other creatives who reside locally or have a spirit-connection with our locale and us.
So here’s to all things summer in America – backyard barbeques, outdoor music, beach time, and an ice cream cone or two. I hope you'll be enjoying a festive day today -- wherever you are! From all of us here at Beach Treasures in Duck, Happy 4th of July to all of our readers and customers. Thank you for visiting our site and reading our BLOG, “The Treasure Trove.”
